About Michelle Ververs

Michelle has worked as a Registered Dietitian since 2010 and received a Bachelor’s of Dietetics from the University of Connecticut.

Michelle believes no two clients are the same, making sure that she gets to know her clients. Michelle works to help clients identify their values and motivation, as this is necessary to sustain long lasting changes. She believes that it is her job to help clients cultivate the skills they need to nourish themselves well and independently. Michelle will meet you where you are at and will work in tandem with you to help you meet your goals.

Michelle has experience working in food service, long term care and long term acute care, as well as public health.

Michelle specializes in Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), and has completed additional training through Monash University’s online Fodmap course. She works with you to identify food sensitivities and a long-term diet and treatment plan to manage your symptoms. Michelle continues to read current recommendations and research studies, as well as devote her continuing education towards IBS and other gastrointestinal conditions.

Clients needing assistance with sports nutrition, whether a high school soccer player, collegiate track athlete or weekend warrior wanting to train for their first 5 k can find practical advice to help them fuel their best. Michelle helps the clients she works with strike a balance between fueling well for their movement and enjoying their food.

Michelle has trained as both a postpartum doula and a lactation counselor and is able to bring that skill set to work with clients at Essential Nutrition. She understands the nutrition and emotional needs of young families. Michelle can guide you through specific nutrition needs during pregnancy and postpartum and help new parents feel confident in feeding their infant or young child.

Michelle works with clients living with emotional eating, and helping clients break the cycle of dieting and feeling powerless to food. She can help you identify patterns and work with you to implement new coping strategies. She provides a safe space for clients to learn about themselves and grow.

Michelle is also able to help clients seeking outpatient care for an eating disorder, working with your team to help you recover.

When not at work, Michelle enjoys spending her free time hiking with her husband Michael, daughter Peyton and two dogs. Michelle loves powerlifting, is an avid distance runner and is always planning her next race. She is on the never-ending hunt for good pizza and bagels!
